Kangaroos star Cameron Munster was spotted smoking an electronic cigarette in the Old Trafford changerooms following Australia’s Rugby League World Cup Final against Samoa on Sunday morning AEDT.

The Kangaroos lifted the Rugby League World Cup trophy after claiming a 30-10 victory, with captain James Tedesco named player of the match.

“It’s a pretty unbelievable feeling,” Tedesco said after the 20-point win.

“We came over here 6-7 weeks ago with this group of blokes and formed such a special bond. It’s so special representing our country and putting this jersey on … to represent my friends and family back home.

“It’s a team full of superstars. We knew we had the individual brilliance; it was about bonding as a team. We got better and better each game and this was probably our best performance (of the World Cup) so it’s a great feeling.”

The Australians celebrated their 12th World Cup title in the sheds, downing a few beverages and showering each other in champagne.

Munster, who recently underwent a 12-month alcohol ban following the infamous white powder scandal, was photographed puffing an e-cigarette in the changeroom.

The official Old Trafford website states: “Old Trafford is a no smoking stadium, this includes the use of electronic cigarettes.”

The Melbourne Storm playmaker considered extending his self-imposed liquor ban after the conclusion of the 2022 NRL season, but felt confident he would be in control of his alcohol consumption.

“There’s no booze ban now, I just have to be smart enough and old enough to realise when it’s the right time (to have a drink), and to not be an idiot,” Munster told the Sydney Morning Herald last month.

“The way I played this year, I can’t see why I can’t go through next year, play really good footy, and if we do something special, have a couple of drinks here and there to celebrate.

“If we win the World Cup, it would be nice to have some drinks.”

Last month, Munster signed a four-year contract extension with the Storm, keeping the talented five-eighth at the club until the end of 2027.

According to a News Corp report, Munster rejected a four-year contracted offer from the Dolphins worth $5.6 million.

Munster’s vaping incident is not dissimilar to a dressing room indiscretion that saw NRL veteran Kevin Proctor sacked by the Titans earlier in 2022.

The Gold Coast captain was immediately sacked after posting a video of himself vaping during his side’s loss to the Canterbury Bulldogs in July.

In a seven-second video with the caption “Not the halftime vape”, Proctor was seen in a Titans polo sucking on what looks like an e-cigarette before exhaling into the camera.

The video was reportedly posted at 3.17pm, just after halftime in the Titans-Bulldogs match.

Proctor didn’t play in the match but was caught on camera by Fox Sports in attendance at the ground, sitting near the Titans interchange bench.

Smoking is banned at all stadiums in Australia.
