BULLDOGS livewire Ben Barba has this morning revealed his new status as a superstar of the NRL has forced him to seek advice from teammates on how to deal with his new-found fame.
Barba, who scored two remarkable tries and saved two in defence against Broncos on Sunday, has taken his game to another level in 2012 under new coach Des Hasler. He is now one of the favourites to win the Dally M medal as the game's best player.
Barba told Sky Sports Radio's The Big Sports Breakfast this morning teammates Michael Ennis and Frank Pritchard have helped him stay grounded as his performances on the field continue to grab the limelight.
"I've got a good bunch of teammates who have helped me out with what's going on," Barba said.
"Blokes like Frank Pritchard and Michael Ennis have helped me with trying to keep my feet on the ground. I'm pretty thankful for those kind of guys."
Barba has also credited Hasler for giving him the self belief this season that has propelled him and the Bulldogs towards the minor premiership.
"He was positive about everything he said to me and he gave me belief within myself," he said.
"To focus on myself and my job only and it's working.
"I think it's just belief in myself and a bit of hard work. I said at the time we all had to work hard when Dessie was coming to the club."
The Bulldogs will take another step towards wrapping up the minor premiership when they take on the Tigers at ANZ Stadium on Friday.
