Brisbane Broncos stars Adam Reynolds and Patrick Carrigan face a nervous wait to see if they will be allowed to play in the NRL’s season opener in Las Vegas following their bust-up on the weekend.

The two senior Broncos players were filmed in what appeared to be a drunken scuffle in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Sunday night following the club’s annual fan day.

In the vision, released on social media, Carrigan and Reynolds are locked in a push-and-shove altercation with a female onlooker screaming: “Adam ... Pat ... stop!” as they grab at each other’s shirts.

“The Broncos are looking into an incident involving some of its playing group in Brisbane City last night,” the club said in a statement.

“The Club was made aware of the incident last night and has been speaking to players across the course of the day to clarify details of what occurred.

“The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed of the matter.”

The Courier Mail reports nearby patrolling police spotted the fight and opted not to arrest Reynolds or Carrigan after interviewing players, ordering them to go home immediately.

Triple M’s Ben Dobbin said the Broncos duo were embarrassed by the incident and said it was a “dark day” for the Broncos.

“This is probably a very dark day for the Brisbane Broncos,” Dobbin said.

“Thousands and thousands of children, men and women were at Red Hill for (the fan day).

“The players went out after for a few drinks, which is very standard, as once the season starts they just don’t get the opportunity. It’s not a good look, a few of the other players rang the Broncos late last night.

“He (Reynolds) says he’s embarrassed, humiliated, he’s upset about the whole incident, wish it hadn’t happened. He was trying to get Patrick Carrigan into a cab.”

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said he was “disappointed” by the bust up between Reynolds and Carrigan.

“The players are aware of the professional standards we expect. Clearly that wasn’t upheld in this instance,” he said.

“Overs the past few years we have invested a lot of time and seen a lot of growth in terms of improving our environment and culture.

“This is certainly a step back but the intent here is that we understand what took place and we support our group in taking strides to get better on and off the field.”

After an incident free summer among NRL players, the footage comes to light 10 days before the Broncos players were due to leave Australia for Las Vegas.

The incident is sure to come under scrutiny from the NRL Integrity Unit, which has the power to fine and suspend players for bringing the game into disrepute.

The Broncos can choose to impose their own sanctions, but it would be a surprise if their veteran halfback and star lock don’t make the trip to Vegas for the landmark season opener.

Broncos chairman Karl Morris told the Courier Mail it’s unlikely Reynolds and Carrigan will be punished with a suspension, clearing the way for them to travel to Las Vegas for Brisbane’s season opener against the Roosters on March 3.

“It’s very disappointing,” Morris said.

“It’s so close to the beginning of the season and we’ve always had the view that alcohol is not a performance-enhancing substance.

“They are young men and I’m not going to make excuses for it ... These guys should know better.”
