Broncos flop Anthony Milford is suddenly hottest signature in NRL
The tide has turned dramatically for unwanted Broncos star Anthony Milford with rival clubs suddenly lining up for his signature.
Broncos star Anthony Milford is suddenly the hottest property in the NRL.
The 26-year-old is set to be left out in the cold by the Broncos at the end of 2021 — but rival clubs are reportedly lining up to chase his signature.
It was revealed Wednesday the Cronulla Sharks are reportedly firming as his likely home at the beginning of the 2022 season.
However, it has also been reported the Gold Coast Titans are now chasing Milford with cash to splurge.
On Fox League’s NRL 360 on Tuesday night, The Australian’s Brent Read reported that the Sharks would “explore every half in the game” with Milford seemingly in the club’s crosshairs.

Channel Seven Brisbane is reporting the Gold Coast Titans have also “opened discussions” with Milford’s management.
It comes after it was revealed that the Sharks had turned their attention to Milford after losing hope on Rabbitohs star Adam Reynolds, despite tabling a monster $2.4 million offer to the halfback.
The Titans also have cash up their sleeve after missing out on Broncos star Kotoni Staggs.
The report claims the Titans see Milford as a potential option to replace playmaker Ash Taylor, who is also out of contract at the end of this season.
Milford’s reported $1 million per-year salary expires at the end of the year and he is facing a dramatic pay cut to sign with the Sharks or Titans.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters even said earlier this year that the club had not seen enough from Milford to offer him a contract extension.
When the Broncos signed Staggs last month it reportedly came with a carrot that the club sees him as the future five-eighth — a direct replacement for Milford.
Milford appeared to be an astute pick up for the Broncos, a big part of the club making the grand final in 2015 after joining the club.
While they ultimately lost to the North Queensland Cowboys, Milford played well enough to earn a four-year $1 million contract extension from the 2017 season.
But Milford’s form fell off a cliff, with the star even dropped from the wooden spooners earlier in the year.
The Broncos are also reportedly set to confirm the club has signed Reynolds in an announcement this week.
As for Sharks star Shaun Johnson, Read added that he looks to be on the outer as he has failed to impress on return from an Achilles injury.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Shaun there. I don’t think he’s a fait accompli, I think he was originally,” Read said.
“But given the way he’s played the last few weeks and some murmurs coming out of the Sharks camp is that Johnson isn’t a huge priority at the moment.”
But SEN’s Andrew Voss said he wasn’t sure if Milford would be the man to turn the Sharks around, despite Craig Fitzgibbon coming in as coach.
“That’s an interesting one for me, I’m unsure on it,” Voss said.
