Jai Arrow ‘unfollowed’ by glamorous girlfriend as he counts cost of Covid breach

The fallout continues from Jai Arrow’s decision to sneak a woman into Origin camp, with his girlfriend unfollowing him on social media.

The fallout continues from Jai Arrow’s head-scratcher of a decision to sneak a woman into Origin camp.

Arrow has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with former Miss World Australia, Taylah Cannon for the last couple of years. According to The Australian they were photographed together in the sheds after Origin I and going off her initials in Arrow’s Instagram bio, it seems they were on again.

However, that seems to have changed after the Maroons star breached the NRL’s Covid protocols, by reportedly sneaking a woman into camp.

According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, the women he smuggled into the hotel was described as a “dancer”.

Arrow was cut from the Queensland side, whacked with a $35,000 fine by the NRL and a two-game ban — which will be served while he spends two weeks in isolation.

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Andrew Webster said on Friday that Arrow’s decision to bring the woman back to the team hotel has proven to be “very costly.”

“It’s very costly. $35,000, isolated for 14 days, not playing for Queensland and unfollowed on Instagram by his long-time girlfriend. It was a very big week for Jai Arrow,” Webster told SEN.

Arrow will also miss out on his $15,000 match payment that he would have received for playing in Origin III next week. In total, his decision has cost him $50,000, damage in his personal life and a tarnished NRL reputation.

The 25-year-old said he was “truly sorry” in a statement released by the QRL on Thursday.

“I know I have let a lot of people down, including my teammates, coaching staff and fans right across the rugby league community,” Arrow said.

“For this I am truly sorry. I have fully co-operated with the NRL Integrity Unit, and I understand the scrutiny and criticism coming my way.”

However, that didn't spare him from some scathing words from Maroons great Corey Parker.

“My first reaction was, how stupid? How stupid can you be?” Parker told Fox League.

“You’re pulling on a Maroons jersey, you’re pulling on a Maroons jersey and in my opinion you’re showing disrespect to that jersey by the fact you’ve put yourself before the team.”

Meanwhile, Queensland champion Cooper Cronk couldn’t believe Arrow would take the risk he did after the dramatic fallout from Paul Vaughan’s barbecue party.

“Seriously, not even a week after the hysteria around Paul Vaughan and the Dragons and what happened, people can’t read a paper or watch the TV without (seeing that),” Cronk said.

“I think the two-game suspension is light. He probably should have got another two for stupidity.

“After everything the Dragons have been through … Jai Arrow knew what he was doing and blatantly disregarded the rules.”
