BRONCOS star Justin Hodges says Brisbane's first afternoon game of the season will them to break their attacking shackles and hopefully the club's three-match losing streak.

The Broncos play Wayne Bennett's Newcastle Knights on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium, providing the players a rare glimpse of sunlight with the football in hand.

Because the Broncos rate so well for Channel Nine, the club's matches are almost exclusively the domain of Friday nights.

Speaking at Broncos training this morning, Hodges flagged an attack-oriented gameplan.

"It's hard playing on Friday nights because it's so greasy," the veteran said.

"This day game will suit us. We are really looking forward to playing a game on Sunday.

"It will be a massive match and the Wayne Bennett factor will bring a big crowd.

Like the Broncos, the Knights are on a three-match losing streak.

Hodges missed the Broncos emphatic loss to the Melbourne Storm last Friday night as he was rested after State of Origin I.

The bustling centre, who again only completed half a training session during to back soreness, said it was difficult to watch the game from the sidelines.

"You never want to see your mates get towelled up," he said.

"I feel better for the rest though and it's always dangerous trying to play two games in three days.

"Storm are a class side but we still played well in patches."

Despite the Knights poor form, the Broncos will need to do more than play well in patches to snare victory.
