Nick Daicos, Reece Walsh, Oscar Piastri and more nominated for GQ Breakthrough Sportsman of the Year
Nick Daicos, Reece Walsh, Oscar Piastri and more have been nominated for GQ Breakthrough Sportsman of the Year. The award will be decided by a public vote and announced at the GQ MOTY awards, in association with BOSS, on December 6.
Two of the hottest young football talents in the country and three international sporting superstars will battle it out for the GQ Men Of The Year awards in a list of nominees that represents the future of Australian sporting greatness.
The GQ MOTY awards are back this year and the publication is inviting you to vote to decide the Breakthrough Sportsman of the Year.
Held at Bondi Beach with the support of BOSS, Hennessy, Jaguar Australia and BOSS fragrance, the awards will celebrate game-changers across entertainment, the arts and fashion, but it’s the sporting domain in which the magazine wants you to have your say.
The five nominees – Nick Daicos, Ethan Ewing, Josh Giddey, Oscar Piastri and Reece Walsh – represent the future of Australian sporting greatness.
But only one will win the prestigious award at the GQ MOTY awards on December 6 and that will be decided by you.
Will you back Daicos?
The 20-year-old bounced back from injury to help Collingwood win the premiership in only his second campaign in the AFL.
What about Ewing?
One of Australia’s brightest young surfers, Ewing finished second at the WSL finals to put the cherry on top of a year that also included a win at the legendary Bells Beach event.
Giddey, GQ Australia’s latest cover star, has made a name for himself as a triple-double machine and was named the FIBA World Cup Rising Star.
In the F1, Piastri overcame a slow start in his first year to finish third in the Japan Grand Prix and second in the Qatar Grand Prix, and he also had a win in the spring.
Finally, there’s Walsh.
The man Peter V’Landys said could “become one of the best-known Australian sportsmen in America” was one of the most exciting athletes to watch in any sport this year.
Each of the nominees is deserving of the award but ultimately the winner is up to you.
