The biggest event in world sport just got even more hype after the Kansas City Chiefs booked their place in the Super Bowl with a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

The Ravens had been one of the best teams all season but had a shocker on Monday (AEDT) as Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce showed why the Chiefs are defending champions.

Mahomes threw for 241 yards and a touchdown when he connected with Kelce for a 19-yard score on their opening drive to take a 7-0 lead.

Kelce also broke Jerry Rice’s record for the most postseason receptions in NFL history (152).

Swift probably set her own record for the most cutaway shots on TV, and she appeared to say “go away please” when she popped on the coverage during the game.

Isiah Pacheco scored the other touchdown for the Chiefs and that was all they needed to hold off a lacklustre Baltimore outfit.

The Ravens were their own worst enemy, giving away several penalties as quarterback Lamar Jackson only completed five passes for 67 yards and he struggled with his running game.

Rookie receiver Zay Flowers gave away a 15-yard penalty for taunting L’Jarius Sneed on the ground.

To rub salt into the wound, Sneed got revenge just moments later when he knocked the ball out of Flowers’ hands just as he was about to dive over for a touchdown.

There were jubilant scenes in Baltimore as Kelce and Swift kissed and embraced on the field after the Chiefs were crowned AFC champions.

Kelce screamed: “You gotta fight for your right to party! We going to Las Vegas to go get us another one!”

Swift has been at every one of Kelce’s postseason games, rubbing shoulders with Mahomes’ wife Brittany and spending plenty of time with Kelce’s parents Donna and Ed.

Swift’s Eras Tour is in full swing and she will need to make a mad dash from the other side of the world to make it in time to attend the Super Bowl in person in Las Vegas.

The last of her concerts in Tokyo finishes on the night of Saturday February 10, but she should have enough time to jet across to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday night local time.

The Super Bowl is scheduled to kick off around 10.30am on Monday February 12.

Singer Usher will perform the halftime show at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, and Swift’s presence would add even more star power to the biggest sporting event on the planet.

The following weekend Swift will arrive in Australia where she’s performing three shows in Melbourne and four gigs in Sydney.

The Chiefs are in the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons and will be chasing their fourth title.

They will take on the San Francisco 49ers after they produced a stunning comeback over the Detroit Lions.

The Lions held a 24-7 lead at halftime but it was the 49ers who delivered down the stretch as they outscored the Lions 27-7 in the second half to secure the 34-31 victory.

Mahomes, Kelce and co can claim a third Super Bowl ring if they can add to their 2019 and 2023 triumphs.
