166kg Aussie NFL hulk Jordan Mailata ragdolled in viral scenes

Aussie Jordan Mailata has come a long way in his NFL development but the hulking star has gone viral after he was monstered.

Aussie giant buried in viral NFL stunner

Hulking Aussie NFL giant Jordan Mailata has been knocked on his back in a viral moment during his Philadelphia Eagles’ 37-20 win over the LA Rams.

Mailata, who was picked up by the Eagles with the 233rd pick of the 2018 NFL Draft having never played a snap of football, has become one of Philadelphia’s most invaluable players.

The 27-year-old from Bankstown in Sydney’s west has since had his own share of highlight plays as he’s developed into genuine leader on a potential Super Bowl contender.

Mailata was named as one of the Eagles’ seven captains.

Already tasked with one of the most important positions on the field as a left tackle, which is tasked with protecting the blindside of a right-handed quarterback — like Eagles QB Jalen Hurts — Mailata has been thriving in Philadelphia.

But his position also sees him copping a lot of attention.

And against the Rams, it saw him up against rookie linebacker Jared Verse.

Verse, who was picked at No. 19 in last years’ draft has lived up to his billing, already being seen as a genuine superstar who is already making highlight reel plays.

In the second quarter of the clash, the Rams were leading 7-3 with the Eagles on LA’s 19 yard line at 3rd-and-16.

Smelling the chance to force the Eagles to kick a second field goal, the 118kg Verse appeared to have got the jump on the 166kg Mailata, putting the Aussie on his back in a brutal shunt.

While it also saw Verse go to ground, it collapsed the pocket and forced Hurts to run, going just six yards before running over the sideline.

It saw the Eagles take the field goal and make it a 7-6 game but the vision of Verse running through Mailata, who has nearly 50kg on the rookie, quickly went viral.

“Watch Jared Verse, the rookie we’ve been talking about, against a huge human being in Jordan Mailata and just burying him,” NBC’s Cris Collingsworth said in commentary. “Jeez.”

While there were suggestions the Rams had taken a false start, the play was flagged against the Eagles, with the penalty declined.

But the vision was quickly spread over social media.

NFL analyst Ryan Rowler said: “Jordan Mailata is 6’8”, 366. Ridiculous from Jared Verse.”

Ex-NFL player Kirk Morrison said: “Jared Verse might be arrested for what he just did to Jordan Mailata on that last pass rush.”

Sports Illustrated’s Tom Cavanaugh wrote: “Jared Verse absolutely pancaking Mailata, one of the Eagles’ best offensive lineman … wow.”

Broadcaster Zach Gelb wrote: “He looked like he was early, but holy smokes Jared Verse just put Jordan Mailata on his ass like it was nothing. Mailata is 6’8 and 365 pounds. He just got tossed around by Verse like it was nothing.”

The Irish NFL Show account tweeted: “Jared Verse absolutely flattened 365lb Mailata, dammmmn.”

One fan added: “Rookie Jared Verse bulldozing 6’8/365 Jordan Mailata. What.”

Another commented: “Jared Verse sent Jordan Mailata to the shadow realm.”

However, another said it was the hit was only because “Verse ran off-side”.

Another commented that it woke up the hulking Aussie.

“Man … when mailata got bullied over he went absolute demon mode on verse for the rest of the game. That shit woke a demon up out of him,” the fan tweeted.

It worked out alright for the Eagles as they took a 13-7 lead to the break before running away with it in the second half.

Mailata is one of the highest paid Australian athletes in the world, having signed a three-year $100m extension before the start of the season.

The former South Sydney NRL junior is now the fourth-highest paid left tackle in the NFL, cementing his standing in the competition despite the 27-year-old not yet making the Pro Bowl.
