Fairy tale finish as WALLAM WINS IT!

Australia has defeated England 56-48 on Sunday night to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead against England.

Amy Parmenter produced a player of the match performance, snaring countless deflections and intercepts to push her case for the starting wing defence bib at next year's World Cup in South Africa.

Game one hero Donnell Wallam was set for more game time but was ruled out of the clash just hours before the first centre pass after coming down with a stomach illness.

The Diamonds tried another new shooting combination and Cara Koenen and Kiera Austin slotted in seamlessly.

Austin was particularly impressive, shooting 22 goals from 24 attempts including a perfect 14/14 in the first half.

England rallied at times but ultimately had no answers for Australia, with Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich having the luxury of bring Sophie Dwyer on to goal attack for the last quarter.

There was a scary moment in the third quarter when Diamonds midcourter Maddy Proud was flattened by a stray elbow from Austin in a case of some brutal friendly fire.

The Diamonds confirmed Proud had concussion symptoms and will miss the final game of the series under the 12-day concussion protocols.

There is no trophy on the line in this series but it completes a dominant 2022 for the Diamonds - who won the Quad Series in January, the Commonwealth Games gold medal, reclaimed the Constellation Cup from New Zealand and have now dominated the old enemy.

The series wraps up with game three in Brisbane on Thursday.
