Australia has dominated the last international netball cycle, winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal, the Quad Series and reclaiming the Constellation Cup last year.

But there is one trophy missing from their cabinet — the Netball World Cup.

The Diamonds lost the 2019 World Cup Final to New Zealand by just one goal, and are determined to regain the most coveted crown in netball off their arch rivals.

Goal shooter Cara Koenen told news.com.au earlier this year Australia was determined to “complete the set” of netball titles.

“As World No. 1 that we want to win that trophy back from New Zealand, win it back from the Kiwis and have the complete set back in our hands,” Koenen said.

“It’s something that hasn’t been done a whole lot in netball, winning both Comm Games and World Cup in one cycle.

“We talk a lot about being a transformational team, I think Stacey (Marinkovich) has really instilled that expectation and belief in us that’s a big goal for this year.

“Having slowly filled up our trophy cabinet again, we do have such a strong squad. It’s not even about that seven that gets on court or the 12 that’s picked in the team or the 15 that tours.”

Most of Australia’s preliminary games will be in friendly time zones, starting at either 5pm or 7pm AEST, with the Diamonds filling morning slots in South Africa.

The semi-finals could also be at a fan-friendly time depending on Australia’s seeding into the game, while the finl will be in the early hours of August 7 AEST.
