Everything you need to know for the 2022 Bathurst 1000 race

The biggest race on Australian shores is finally here, and this year’s Bathurst 1000 is set to be a potentially wet and wild one.

The biggest race of the Supercars calendar is finally here, and this year’s Bathurst 1000 is set to be a wild one.

Meteorologists are predicting Mount Panorama will be pelted with rain this weekend, but Supercars chief executive Shane Howard is adamant the annual race will go ahead as planned.

“In light of the weather forecast over the coming days, patrons are encouraged to plan accordingly,” he said on Wednesday.

“Sessions will begin for all categories on track on Thursday and run through until Sunday’s great race.

“Off track entertainment at the top and bottom of the mountain will also proceed as planned.

“We will act accordingly to ensure the safety of patrons and competitors at all times.”

What time does the race start?

The 161-lap race gets underway at 11.15am local time (AEDT) on Sunday, October 9.

Unlike all other Supercars races, the Bathurst 1000 does not have a time certain cut-off, but is expected to conclude at approximately 6pm.

How to watch the race

You can watch Sunday’s race on free-to air broadcaster Channel 7 and live stream the race via 7plus.

Every session of the Bathurst 1000 will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports 503 and streaming platform Kayo.

What is the schedule?

Thursday

11am -12pm: Supercars Practice 1 (all drivers)

3.55pm – 4.55pm: Supercars Practice 2 (co-drivers)

Friday

10.10am – 11.10am: Supercars Practice 3 (all drivers)

1pm-2pm: Supercars Practice 4 (all drivers)

4.15pm – 4.55pm: Supercars Qualifying

Saturday

10.20am – 11.20am: Supercars Practice 5 (co-drivers)

1pm – 2pm: Supercars Practice 6 (all drivers)

5.05pm: Supercars top-10 Shootout

Sunday

8am – 8.20am: Supercars warm-up

8.40am – 9am: Supercars Drivers’ Parade

11.15am: Supercars Race 30 (161 laps)
