DANI Pedrosa will miss this weekend’s MotoGP Grand Prix of Spain as he continues to recover from surgery to alleviate arm pump.
The 29-year-old factory Repsol Honda rider has been out of action since the opening race of 2015 in Qatar.
After finishing a distant sixth Pedrosa revealed the true extent of his arm pump issues, which have plagued him since early 2014, and hinted he would step off the bike indefinitely as he searched for a solution.
The Spaniard underwent radical surgery soon after where the entire layer of fascia — the casing that surrounds the muscle in the forearm — was removed.

Hiroshi Aoyama will once again deputise on the second Repsol Honda at Jerez, with Pedrosa tentatively pencilled in for a return at the French Grand Prix on May 17.
“I really hoped to return in Jerez but after riding a supermotard bike (Monday), we decided it’s not the best option,” Pedrosa said.

“By competing in an entire race weekend we risk damaging the arm further and slowing down the healing process and the last thing I want to do is create a bigger problem.”
In positive news for the Honda squad, Marc Marquez is on track to race at Jerez as he nurses a fractured finger sustained in a training crash earlier in the week.
“Today I underwent another examination by Dr. Mir, and he confirmed that the wound is healing well and looking good,” Marquez said.
“He took off the cast that they had put on and now I have begun to do some physiotherapy work with some active and passive movements.
“My finger will be checked at Jerez after every session and the bandages will be changed.”
The reigning world champion arrives on home soil with a 30-point deficit to championship leader Valentino Rossi, following a mistake on the first lap in Qatar and a late crash with Rossi at the last round in Argentina.
“I am very motivated for this Grand Prix, because it is the first of the year in Spain, there are my home fans there and I have some good memories from previous years!” He said.
“It’s a pity about the injury, but I hope that it doesn’t affect me too much and that I can get a great result in front of the fans.”
First practice for the Grand Prix of Spain gets underway at Jerez on Friday.
