Rare photo of Daniel Ricciardo with girlfriend turns heads at A-list wedding

Aussie Daniel Ricciardo has turned heads with a photo post that has given answers to all the swirling romantic rumours.

Daniel Ricciardo has been turning heads with a rare public photo with girlfriend Heidi Berger.

The Aussie last year said he was “in love” with his girlfriend and said things were getting serious despite the pair rarely seen together in public.

The Formula 1 driver on Monday night for the first time posted a photo of the pair posing together with the couple celebrating the marriage of Australian snowboarding star Scotty James.

The two-time Olympic medallist tied the knot with billionaire heiress Chloe Stroll over the weekend in a glamorous, A-list wedding in Italy.

Chloe’s brother Lance, who drives for Aston Martin in Formula 1, began dating in 2019.

Ricciardo and Berger were seen rubbing shoulders with a star-studded guest list which included Michael Douglas, his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Duchess of York, Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.

James’ sister Rebecca, who has a young child with Sunrise presenter Sam Mac, was also present as the sister of the groom.

Ricciardo and Berger have stolen the show in the gossip that has followed the glamorous Venice wedding.

The Aussie posted photos from the wild celebrations, including snaps taken from the dancefloor.

“Strolling with the James’s,” he captioned the post.

James responded on Monday night writing: “Sub par groomsman… but these photos are unbelievable! Love ya bro xx”.

Ricciardo and Berger were also spotted together at the Miami Grand Prix earlier this month.

Ricciardo has never confirmed when he began dating Berger, but it has been rumoured the pair have known each other for four years.

In an interview with radio hosts Fitzy & Wippa in September, Ricciardo confirmed he was loved up.

Host Ryan Fitzgerald asked the 33-year-old: “Are you in love at the moment?”

Ricciardo replied: “Yeah mate, I’m in love, I got a good thing going, so yeah. I’ve got a good balance in life right now.

He added he has enjoyed picking the brains of Berger senior, who was one of his childhood motorsport heroes.

“When I was young, I mean I’ve followed F1 since I was a kid and I had a Berger hat,” Ricciardo said.

It’s funny, I talk about it with him. He still goes to quite a few races he still has an interest in the sport and he still does some business with it.

“Any ex-sportsman, anyone who’s been through it — I just love speaking to them and gaining knowledge and insight through their experience there’s so much wisdom.”

Asked if Heidi has any talent behind the wheel, Ricciardo joked: “Definitely not race car status. No offence.”

After the wedding ceremony, the festivities continued in Venice — with James and Stroll sharing several gorgeous photos of the happy couple and the wedding party cruising along the Venetian canals having the time of their life.

James and Stroll got engaged in late 2021 in Switzerland. Chloe, who is a singer, revealed in 2020 Lance had actually set her up with Scotty and they met in New York.

“Lance actually called me and said, ‘I think I just found the guy you’re going to marry’,” she told the Herald Sun.

“It was kind of strange. I had a conference in Park City (Utah), which was where his next competition was the same weekend and a lot of random things happened.

“Scotty was very cute. We dated for about four months, or as he likes to say, we got to know each other, before he officially asked me to be his girlfriend.”

“I just connected with her in New York and went out to dinner with her at a place called Motel Morris in Chelsea and the rest is history,’’ James recalled.

“She’s quite a talented musician.

“It’s been really cool watching her do her thing. She’s always had a huge passion for music and it’s the industry she wants to be a part of. She’s really enjoying it.”

James was Australia’s flag-bearer at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the halfpipe.

He went one better at the 2022 Games, claiming silver in the halfpipe — denied gold only by a stellar performance from Japan’s Ayumu Hirano.
