McLaren superstar Lando Norris caught in epic Lamborghini fail

Lando Norris has an annual $30 million salary, but it still can’t buy reliability, even for one of the world’s most sought after cars.

Lando Norris is living the dream of just about every red-blooded male and surely countless females too.

Boasting a $30 million annual salary with McLaren, the 24-year-old Brit can well and truly afford the stereotypical Playboy lifestyle that comes with being one of the best Formula 1 drivers on the planet.

A noted luxury car collector, Norris reportedly has a number of McLaren vehicles in his personal garage, along with a Rolls Royce, Jaguar and a Lamborghini Miura, a rare Italian sports car with an average sale price of $2.85 million.

The popular driver’s star is soaring even higher since Norris finally cracked his first Formula 1 victory at this month’s Miami GP.

Sadly, even for an F1 driver, one thing Norris can’t always buy is reliability.

Norris was driving his beloved Lamborghini on the streets of Monte Carlo when he encountered an issue most drivers can relate to — the car wouldn’t start.

With his McLaren mechanics nowhere to be found, Norris sought help from members of the public for a good old fashioned push start.

“It didn’t start,” Norris told reporters at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on Thursday.

“But then the fans recognised me and they pushed my car and they bump-started it down the hill. So I was like, mega.

“Maybe if I didn’t win the race they wouldn’t have noticed me, they wouldn’t have started it.

“So those are the perks in life. People can bump-start your car for you, in the Miura. That kind of thing.”

Since making his F1 debut at the Australian Grand Prix back in 2019, Norris has demonstrated a talent level that had him labelled a World Champion in waiting.

Spending his entire career to date with the papaya outfit, Norris earned his first podium with a second-placing at the 2020 Austrian GP.

Fast forward another four years and Norris was still waiting for his first checkered flag, holding the unwanted record of the most podiums without a race win with 15.

A regular target for trolls on social media, Norris’ narrative quickly turned from never winning a race to his public declarations of wanting to challenge for the title.

The Bristol-born star has a healthy approach, however, when it comes to his critics.

“I went through all the (social media) comments, liking all the bad ones,” he grinned.

“It said ‘this guy has won one win and his ego has gone through the roof’. I liked it. I was like ‘yes, it has’.

“You can’t please everyone. I look at it because I try and not be on the bad side of anyone.

“But if I’m not confident, people are like, ‘you have got no faith in the team’.

“And the minute I say we can win more races, which I already said at the beginning of the year, people are like ‘calm down, hotshot’.”

Norris has a chance to add to his career victory tally at this week’s race at the famed Autodromo Enzo de Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola.
