Ricciardo and McLaren teammate Lando Norris have been spotted wearing something an eighties pop star would be embarrassed with featuring alongside late night talk show host James Corden.
While the gimmick is clearly a stunt for a segment on the English entertainer’s popular program — it is yet to be explained how this outfit monstrosity was allowed to happen.
The team cheekily did not give an explanation for the photos, other than to write: “Sometimes it’s just best not to ask questions”.
It is one of several stumes Ricciardo rocked on the opening day of the glitzy event.
It went down hill quickly.
It started with the first pictures of him riding a jet ski at the coastal track.

Then his strut through pit lane with Corden and Norris overshadowed everything.
The reaction from fans on social media was not kind.
The Sun’s Formula 1 journalist Ben Hunt wrote on Twitter: “Unreal. Why would you agree to put your drivers through this?”
A Lando Norris fan page on Twitter described the stunt as the British driver’s “worst nightmare”.
The only mention of the stunt on the drivers’ social media pages was a cheeky dig from Norris when he reposted one set-up photo on Instagram that showed Ricciardo looking more than a little awkward when standing next to Corden.
It has been some welcome light-hearted distraction for Ricciardo fans following a week where his uncertain future has been making headlines.
Speculation has been ramping up that Ricciardo may find himself usurped at McLaren, with the spotlight focusing on American IndyCar prodigy Colton Herta as a potential replacement. The 22-year-old is a development driver at McLaren and as part of his deal, Herta is set to test the McLaren MCL35M this year.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown this week spoke about Ricciardo’s contract situation, confirming the team is beginning to prepare for 2024 with Ricciardo’s contract expiring at the end of 2023.
