Take a peek at the lives led by some of our Aussie Sochi stars
WITH the Winter Olympics just days away, enjoy our pick of the tweet pics posted by Aussie athletes aiming to pull sweet tricks in Sochi.
WE reveal what our Aussie athletes set to shred, sled, skate and slide in Sochi do in their down time ... at least what they're prepared to share on Twitter and Instagram.
Alex 'Chumpy' Pullin (Snowboard, Snowboard Cross Men) - Alex Pullin had an outstanding 2012/2013 season winning the Boardercross World Championship title and the overall World Cup title. He is Australia's best chance for gold in Sochi and to get amped before the big race he'll be tuning in to his personalised 'sick track' mixed by Chumpy for Chumpy:
Britteny Cox (Freestyle Skiing, Moguls Women) - Britt Cox was the youngest athlete at the Vancouver 2010 Games. Now a veteran at the ripe old age of 19 the Victorian keeps her head in the game by keeping her head in the snow:
Anton Grimus (Freestyle Skiing, Ski Cross Men) - Anton Grimus grew up in Mt Buller and has spent most of his life surrounded by snow. And when we say surrounded we mean totally immersed:
Stephanie Magiros (Snowboard, Half Pipe Women) - 'Munchkin' Magiros has converted her outstanding junior gymnastic career into selection for Sochi. Like many Aussie winter athletes Magiros has to base herself overseas for training. It's good to see she always takes a reminder of home with her:
Kent Callister (Snowboard, Half Pipe Men) - Callister was born in the USA and lives there now but thanks to a family stint living on the Gold Coast the multi-talented youngster will wear the green and gold in Sochi. When he's not shredding the half pipe Kent competes as a professional skateboarder, tough gig eh?:
Belle Brockhoff (Snowboard, Snowboard Cross Women) - Brockhoff placed sixth in the Olympic test event in Sochi last year. In a sport where fractions of a second matter the talented youngster makes the most of the elite training facilities offered by the AIS:
Brodie Summers (Freestyle Skiing, Moguls Men) - This pic shows it's not all bumps, jumps and hi-tech training for our elite sliders though, sometimes you've just got to load up the squat rack and sweat it out:
Cameron Bolton (Snowboard, Snowboard Cross Men) - And after ripping up the mountain then punching out some squats where do our winter athletes do their recovery? Heaven on earth:
