Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe set to eat drink and make mariachi at Sochi
MEET Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe, a Mexican Olympic skier, professional pop-singer (AKA Andy Himalaya) and the best dressed man at Sochi.
IF you were playing a word association game and the first word was 'Mexico' you would be forgiven for calling out 'taco', 'tequila' or 'Corona'.
I'll bet you wouldn't come up with 'Hubertus' or 'skiing'.
And this is just one of the reasons the story of Prince Hubertus von Hohenlohe-Langenburg aka Andy Himalaya aka Royal Disaster is such a cracker.
Hubertus is a descendant of German royalty, born in Mexico and educated in Austria. He founded the Mexican Ski Federation in 1981 and first skied for Mexico at the 1984 Sarajevo Games.
When he hits the hill in Sochi he will be competing in his sixth Olympics.
He is yet to win a medal.
However, if medals were awarded for costume design we reckon the Prince would be a lock for a podium finish thanks to his mariachi-themed race suit with its bolero jacket, tuxedo shirt and red cummerbund.
Ole!
