Green Bay Packers thrash Minnesota Vikings 42-10 at Lambeau Field
SO much for tales of Eddie Lacy’s demise. The 2013 Rookie of the Year was back to his intimidating ways as the Green Bay Packers dominated Minnesota.
SO much for tales of Eddie Lacy’s demise. The 2013 Rookie of the Year was back to his intimidating ways Thursday night and the Green Bay Packers dominated Minnesota, 42-10.
With Christian Ponder replacing the injured Teddy Bridgewater, the Vikings’ offense was rendered anaemic at best. Aaron Rodgers threw touchdowns to Randall Cobb (8 yards), Jordy Nelson (66 yards) and Davante Adams (11 yards).
Second-quarter interceptions by Ponder — to Julius Peppers and Jamari Lattimore — triggered a rout in another Thursday Night clunker for the NFL. Peppers took his pick back 49 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first player ever to record 100 sacks and 10 interceptions. And after Lattimore’s pick teed up Adams’ touchdown, Green Bay raced ahead, 28-0.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers finished 12-of-17 for 156 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 138.7 rating, as Ponder went 22-of-44 for 222 yards, two picks and a 45.8 rating.
Probably most important for Green Bay was the return of a reckless Lacy. The second-year back from Alabama broke out with a vengeance, totalling 132 yards on 16 touches with two touchdowns, knocking the helmet off of Robert Blanton on the second score. Defensively, Morgan Burnett had one of his best games as a Packer with 12 tackles (9 solo) and a forced fumble. And the pressure on defense was constant as Dom Capers’ unit had six sacks and 16 quarterback hits.
