She was once the queen of Australian sport but now Jana Pittman is the underdog.

In her new career as a bobsledder with two-time Winter Olympian Astrid Radjenovic , Pittman will sacrifice the upcoming summer to hone her skills overseas.

Now the greatest underdog of all time, Steven Bradbury, is backing the pair’s bid to make it to Sochi in Russia next year.

Bradbury is famous around the world for his extraordinary gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

He won the gold after four athletes ahead of him all crashed, leaving him the last man standing in the final and soon after, standing on top of the medal dais.

Bradbury and Vancouver Winter Olympics skeleton competitor Emma Lincoln-Smith are will be guest speakers at a fund-raiser for Pittman and Radjenovic this weekend.

The Winter Olympic hopefuls are hoping to raise $25,000 to aid their campaign with a function at the Castle Hill RSL club this weekend.
