Aussie Rhea Ripley stuns in incredible WrestleMania boilover
An Aussie has made WWE history with a stunning upset at WrestleMania as a YouTube loudmouth copped it sweet.
Australia has its first WWE world champion with Adelaide-born star Rhea Ripley taking out the RAW Women’s Championship belt after defeating Asuka.
Fighting in the semi-main event of WrestleMania 37, Ripley pinned the Japanese star to become Australia’s first champion in the promotion.

Ripley hit her signature move, the Riptide, to claim the title, just three weeks after joining RAW.
Ripley was only drafted in for the fight last week after Charlotte Flair — the daughter of wrestling legend Ric Flair — withdrew due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Backstage, Ripley was soaking it in.
“Definitely a dream for me tonight,” she said. “Since being a little kid I wanted to be a part of WrestleMania and I finally got my WrestleMania moment in front of a crowd, it was super cool stepping out there.
“I loved every second of it, I was really trying to soak it all in and trying not to cry to be honest.”
Ripley is not the first Australian to win a WWE championship – Melbourne’s Buddy Murphy was previously the Cruiserweight Champion – but the Raw Women’s Title is the most prestigious title won by an Aussie.
While many sports fans will roll their eyes at the WWE, the showpiece event of the sport is big money, big prestige and shows were Ripley ranks in the promotion.
