Luke Littler is one step away from immortality after qualifying for the final of the World Darts Championship at the age of 16.

The English sensation was in sublime form as he cruised to a 6-2 victory over 2018 champion Rob Cross in Wednesday morning’s semi-final.

“It’s utterly mind-boggling,” one commentator said.

Littler, who has captured the imagination of the British public and the wider darts world, will face Luke Humphries in the final after Humphries steamrolled Scott Williams with an emphatic victory in the second semi-final.

“It’s crazy to think I’m in a world championship final on my debut,” Littler said. “I was lucky to win one game.

“I’ve got no words.”

He became the youngest semi-finalist of the world darts championships at 16 years of age after smashing Brendan Dolan 5-1 in the quarters.

By qualifying for the final — which will be played on Thursday morning (AEDT) — he is already guaranteed a cash prize of $370,000.

If he wins the final he will take home more than $930,000.

With all that money he will be able to buy himself a car - ready for when he turns 17 and learns to drive later this month.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: “I always treat myself to some Under Armour tracksuits.

“And just get myself a new coat and get myself some Fifa points for my Xbox. That’s pretty much it.”

The semi-final win puts Littler inside the top 35 rankings, but a win in the final would launch him inside the top 10 players.

He spoke about learning to control his emotions in front of what is constantly a raucous crowd at darts contests.

“I just have to stay focussed throughout the game, no matter how long it goes on. I learned in the Andrew Gilding game: I went 2-0 up and let all my emotions out, then we came back after the break and he won the set 3-0. From now on if I go two or three sets clear I’ll compose myself,” he said.

“When I lost the first set I said to my family, there’s still five, six, seven, maybe even more sets to go.”

Despite the big occassion he’s set to face, Littler isn’t planning on changing his routine or diet.

“I’ll just do what I’ve been doing! In the morning I’ll still go for my ham and cheese omelette, then come here, have my pizza and go to the practice board. That’s what I’ve done for every game.”
