The LIV Golf event in Adelaide has officially been shifted to February in a major shake-up to the calendar for Greg Norman’s Saudi-backed league.

As discussions between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund continue over a potential business merger, LIV has ploughed ahead with its stand-alone calendar for 2025.

After two years as a runaway success in April, the Adelaide event will be the second stop on the LIV tour in 2025, with the fourth season to begin in Riyadh on February 6.

The Adelaide event will follow the very next week, starting February 14, when the all-Australian Ripper GC team, led by captain Cameron Smith, will be the defending champions.

Norman said 2025 would be the “most ambitious season start to date”, with a full Asian swing through February and March. Hong Kong and Singapore events will follow Adelaide.

“Since our debut in 2022, LIV Golf has played 34 tournaments in nine different countries across four continents,” Norman said.

“We are a global league with a global footprint, and we’re excited to kick off next season with four truly international events that will deliver our unique blend of elite golf, entertainment and culture to fans around the world.”

The Adelaide event will remain at The Grange Golf Club, where more than 94,000 fans attended the 2024 event as Smith’s team won LIV’s first teams playoff.

“As an Aussie, I’m proud of how South Australia has embraced LIV Golf to make it one of the top sporting events in the country,“ Norman said.

“Over the past two years, Adelaide has showcased what our league can deliver: a destination event with passionate crowds where world-class team competition, entertainment and culture take centre stage.

“It’s been the highlight tournament on our calendar for players and fans alike, and we can’t wait to return to The Grange in February.”
