Rory McIlroy’s new lover? Model Nadia Forde connected to British Open champion after breakup with Caroline Wozniacki

BRITISH Open champion Rory McIlroy called off his engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in sensational fashion. Now he appears to have moved on.

BRITISH Open champion Rory McIlroy appears to have moved on from his three-year relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

The golfer has been linked to an Irish lingerie model, actress and singer called Nadia Forde, who was introduced to him by a mutual friend, Katie Lamour, last year.

According to the Daily Mail, McIlroy missed a practice session ahead of the British Open because he was at Ms Forde’s side after a car crash. Her vehicle flipped over six times, but she wasn’t seriously injured.

Adding to the rumours, McIlroy and Ms Forde were spotted leaving a Dublin nightclub together at 3am last month.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, several of McIlroy’s friends denied that anything romantic was going on between the pair.

“Rory and Nadia have been in the same group on nights out a couple of times, but they are not dating and they won’t be,” one of them said.

“He thinks she is lovely but she’s just not his type, he loves sporty girls. He’s not looking for a girlfriend anyway.”

Ms Forde, for her part, has also tried to calm the persistent rumours. After being told that she was the British betting agencies’ favourite to become McIlroy’s next girlfriend, she claimed her love life was “pretty much non-existent”.

“Look no, no! I wouldn’t be putting any money on me,” she said. “Stop, you’re being bold now. We’re mutual friends, that’s it.

“My love life is pretty much non-existent at the moment and that’s fine, it’s not my top priority.”

McIlroy called off his engagement to Wozniacki in May, just days after their wedding invitations had been sent.

“The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails,” he said at the time.

The golfer’s career has surged since then, culminating in his triumph at Royal Liverpool. Coincidentally, Wozniacki won her first WTA tournament of the year, the Istanbul Cup, on the same day.

The tennis star, who used to be the world number one, took a (lightly) veiled swipe at her former fiance earlier in the week by posting an Instagram photo of herself alongside a friend, Marta Domachowska, with this rather pointed caption:

“Out and about in Istanbul. It’s been 3 years since I have worn heels on a normal day out. #feelsgood #looksgood #shopping #highheels #sun.”

Wozniacki’s relationship with McIlroy lasted three years. She is 1.79 metres tall, compared to his height of 1.75 metres. You can put the pieces together.
