The best hole-in-one of all time between a golfer and a car
HERE'S a record you never knew needed breaking
HERE'S a record you never knew needed breaking.
Former F1 driver David Coulthard and professional golfer Jake Shepherd have teamed up to break the world record for the "farthest golf shot to be caught in a moving car".
Watch the video. It's 100 per cent real, and it's awesome.
A film crew and a racing crew set about for a whole day trying to bag the very unique hole in one.
It was all part of a Mercedes Benz promotion - but the test car didn't get off lightly, with a cracked windscreen and plenty of smoke from the screeching tyres to be seen on the many failed attempts.
And with Coulthard driving the car up to 193km/h, and Shepherd hitting the ball up to 286km/h it was always going to be tough to get that winning shot.
But with meticulous planning, a lot of skill, and even more luck - the impossible happened.
"The ball dropped in with German efficiency, with a clunk. I'm just not sure where it is," said an elated Coulthard immediately afterwards.
A quick search of the vehicle for the golf ball was done when a crewman spotted the ball.
"I see a ball," and Coulthard holds the tiny black golf ball aloft as if he's on a Grand Prix podium.
"All we need is the champagne," he laughs.
We can assure you, the video is not a fake - and the spectacular catch was verified by a Guinness adjudicator ... and a very happy support crew.
