ADAM Scott will not play in the Perth International in October, but IMG director of golf David Rollo is hoping to secure rising Australian star Jason Day.

Last year's US Masters winner Charl Schwartzel and world No.9 Jason Dufner are the first two big international stars to confirm their places at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club tournament, from October 18-21.

Rollo says IMG would sign one more top-25 international player in the next few weeks.

"We're on record saying we'd deliver three international players in the top 25," Rollo said.

"Obviously we're excited to have Charl and Jason announced. Now we're discussing and working through other players and their schedules. There will definitely be local flavour (in the field), but there's a lot of demands on players at the back end of the year.

"I know Adam is not available due to other commitments and we completely respect that."

Day, the world's No.25, is in the frame.

The Perth International - the only Australian tournament co-sanctioned by the European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia - is worth $2 million and is the richest tournament in Australia.

Rollo said IMG aimed to make the Karrinyup tournament a consistent fixture.

"One of the big points we want to get across is, unlike Johnnie Walker (Classic) that came in every three years, this is going to be an annual event and we want to try to grow it," he said.

Lake Karrinyup has spent $3.5 million re-designing the course.

"The course is probably more challenging (than previous tournaments), certainly some of the green complexes are terrific," Rollo said about the new layout.

"But I think also from a fan point of view the course has been opened up an awful lot, and the viewing areas have terrific ambience."
