Cam Smith’s Aussie summer golf campaign to start earlier than expected at NSW Open
Australian golf fans are set to have more chances to see Cam Smith in action this summer.
Cam Smith will finetune his likely assault on Australia’s two golf “majors” by playing in November’s NSW Open.
In a major coup for the $800,000 PGA Tour of Australasia event at the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club, the LIV Golf star and 2022 Open Championship winner has confirmed his participation in the November 14-17 tournament.
“I love supporting Australian golf and when the opportunity arises to play, I want to be there,” Smith said.
“I try to get back home as much as I can.
“The NSW Open is growing into a major event and I’m excited to be able to play in the tournament this year, which will be part of a great summer of Australian golf.”

It’s an event that also takes place the week before the Australian PGA at Royal Queensland, which will be followed by the Australian Open at the Kingston Heath and Victoria layouts.
Queenslander Smith, who has won the PGA title three times but is yet to taste victory in his national open, has not confirmed his participation in either event – both of which are co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australia and the DP World Tour.
However, it’s understood there is an impending announcement confirming at least Smith’s place in a PGA field that will definitely include defending champion and Olympian Min Woo Lee and fellow Australian Cameron Davis, a winner on this year’s American PGA Tour.
Smith’s final LIV event of the year is in Dallas from September 20-22.
He has also confirmed his participation in the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International on December 4-7 at Riyadh Golf Club.
“I am really looking forward to visiting Riyadh for the first time,” Smith said in June.
“We have also heard lots of good things about the championship course at Riyadh Golf Club.
“I reckon it is going to provide us with a real test as we try to stay both out of the water and out in front of what will be another world-class field at the PIF Saudi International.”
