ADAM Scott has scratched out a two-under-par 70 in the second round to move into a tie for third place at the US PGA Tour Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
Scott moved to six-under-par for the tournament, just two strokes behind sole leader Zach Johnson who shot an impressive 66 to move to eight-under.
American youngster Harris English (67) moved into second at seven-under while Scott is joined by Charlie Wi (67), Martin Laird (73), Jonathan Byrd (70) and Brian Davis (70) in the clubhouse at six-under. Michael Thompson, Kevin Na and Matt Kuchar also have a share of third with holes to play.
Scott's four birdies were tempered somewhat by two bogeys as his crisp play from day one deserted him.
However, the Queenslander ground out some great par saves to ensure he'll be right amongst it heading to the weekend.
"I didn't hit my best shots out on the golf course but managed to get it around," Scott said. "I'm playing fairly good, so my scratchy stuff was good enough today."
Marc Leishman (70) moved to one-under-par for the tournament which should be good enough for weekend play, a great effort considering rounds of 81 and 80 last year.
Robert Allenby (72) has finished on even-par, the current cut mark, while John Senden (71) and Nick O'Hern (71) will need some luck after finishing one-over. Rod Pampling (-1), Geoff Ogilvy (E), Jason Day (+3), Greg Chalmers (+5) and Aaron Baddeley (+7) are all out in the afternoon wave.
Tiger Woods managed to make the cut after firing a four-under 68. He finished at two-under and just six strokes from the lead.
