ROY Krishna rescued a point for Wellington Phoenix, scoring from the penalty spot in the 90th minute of an ill-tempered 1-1 draw with Sydney FC on Saturday.
Nine yellow cards were issued in the match in the New Zealand capital which remained scoreless until Sydney’s Slovakian marquee Filip Holosko gave his side the lead in the 84th-minute.
Holosko, who had been under fire to start the season, cut in onto his left foot before curling the ball beyond the previously unbeatable Glen Moss.
Moss had been at the centre of the best chance of the game during the deadlock, saving a penalty off Andrew Hoole. Sydney had also struck the crossbar in the first half through Brandon O’Neill.
But just as it looked as if a much-needed three points were set to go to Sydney, defender Jacques Faty gave away the second late penalty in as many games, dragging down Phoenix fullback Tom Doyle.
Krishna stepped up to send goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic the wrong way.
