Victory can secure FFA Cup final hosting rights with a win over the Phoenix

Melbourne Victory can lock in hosting rights to the FFA Cup final with a semi-final win over Wellington Phoenix in Geelong.

Melbourne Victory will earn hosting rights to the FFA Cup final if they beat Wellington Phoenix in Saturday night’s semi-final at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

Football Australia announced on Thursday that the final will be played on the night of February 5 at either Melbourne’s AAMI Park or Gosford’s Central Coast Stadium.

A Victory will over the Phoenix this weekend will ensure the final at AAMI Park.

However, should the Phoenix beat the Victory, Central Coast Mariners, who are already in the final courtesy of a semi-final win over Sydney FC. will host the decider.

Under FFA Cup regulations, the Phoenix are unable to host any Cup matches.

Of the three teams remaining in the, only the Victory and the Mariners can secure the final 2022 AFC Champions League slot available to an Australian club.

A new name for the competition will also be unveiled on the night of the final.
