Socceroos great Robbie Slater says Ange Postecoglou should leave Celtic if offered the chance to become Spurs manager

Robbie Slater says it should be a ‘no-brainer’ for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou to accept the chance to become Tottenham’s manager.

Socceroos great Robbie Slater has urged Ange Postecoglou to leave Celtic to take charge of English Premier League club Tottenham.

UK reports suggest that former Socceroos coach Postecoglou is the favourite to land the Spurs job – if he wants it.

Postecoglou is focused on securing the Scottish treble with Celtic by leading the Hoops to victory in the Scottish Cup final over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Sunday morning (AEST).

“I get all the interest and why people love to speculate on these things, but we have worked really, really hard to get ourselves into this position and, for me to let my mind wander about anything else than getting our team prepared for a big day, is just not who I am,” Postecoglou told reporters.

However, according to reports, Postecoglou will next week meet with Spurs officials for talks.

Slater said it should be a “no-brainer” for the former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory coach to accept the Tottenham manager’s job in the likelihood that it’s offered to him.

“In the past I’ve said he shouldn’t leave Celtic but the Tottenham gig wasn’t on the table then,” Slater said.

“When an English Premier League club of this size comes up, it’s very difficult to refuse.

“He’s achieved everything at Celtic but this kind of opportunity might not come up again for a while.

“There’s not too many better opportunities than Tottenham. It’s one of big five clubs in England.

“There’s a lot of work to be done there … but Ange loves a challenge. He has showed that at most of his other jobs.”
