Ryan Reynolds’ brutal move as Wrexham players celebrate in Las Vegas

Hollywood megastar Ryan Reynolds has delivered some devastating news to his Wrexham team as they celebrate in Las Vegas.

Wrexham FC players were soaking up the Las Vegas vibes after achieving their latest promotion when the brutal news was handed out.

The Welsh club secured a return to the League One for the first time since 2005 after finishing second in League Two this season.

But as they revelled in the delight of a second straight promotion, eight players were brutally let go from the team, The Sun reports.

The club’s A-list owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds put on a “monster” all expenses paid trip to Vegas for last year’s promotion winning squad.

And it seems as though the pair have offered up the same reward to this year’s players after a number of the stars shared snaps of themselves enjoying the high-life in Sin City.

As the festivities got underway however, the club revealed its released list with eight in total all now on the hunt for a new club.

This includes captain Ben Tozer, who made 131 appearances for the club during his four-year spell at the club.

Other notable players that will be on the hunt for a new club include goalkeeper Rob Lainton, defenders Callum McFadzean, Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe as well as midfielder Luke Young.

Youngsters Owen Cushion and Dan Davies have also been released by the club.

The club’s attention now shifts to building its roster for League One, a task that manager Phil Parkinson has admitted will be difficult.

“I have been very much focused on the team and getting the job done,” he said.

“But naturally conversations are always going on about budgets, whatever division we were going to end up in and possible players

“It is a really exciting summer that lies ahead of us.

“The massive challenge for us is can we build this squad strongly to challenge in League One.

“I am really looking forward to taking on that challenge throughout the summer months.”

The second straight promotion means the investment from McElhenney and Reynolds will see them reach deeper into the cheque books.

Reynolds has now revealed their initial investment into the club came with a huge financial risk that is “absolute idiocy on paper”.

“The thing that I will never, ever forget is that first step, that first time we went to Wrexham,” Reynolds said on the Dan Patrick Show.

“Because what I think is most insane about this is, we couldn’t go there because it was the apex of the pandemic – we couldn’t actually go there.

“We assumed stewardship of this club before ever touching a blade of grass in the Racecourse.

“This is the most financially irresponsible endeavour that you would ever possibly find.

“It is absolute idiocy on paper.

“We don’t know that much about financial investment but what we do love, and have loved our whole adult lives, is emotional investment.

“Emotional investment can create a moat around something, and I feel that moat is around Wrexham and it is special for that reason.”
