NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has blasted Australia Cup final spectators who allegedly raised their arms in Nazi salutes, saying they should be banned from attending any more games.

Police confirmed they’re investigating the incident, which took place during a football match between Sydney United 58 and Macarthur FC on Saturday.

Mr Perrottet said he was horrified by the fans’ behaviour and called for lifetime bans.

“My position is that if they are caught, there should be life bans in place,” he said on Monday.

“This behaviour is not acceptable in our great country.”

NSW Police said the alleged incident was under investigation by Parramatta Police Area Command officers.

“The NSW Police Force condemns anti-social and offensive behaviour of any kind, whether in a public place or at an organised event,” the force said in a statement.

“Officers conduct high-visibility operations at large-scale events and work closely with event organisers, venue management, and other relevant stakeholders to help ensure the public are in a safe and secure environment.

“NSW Police are aware of the incident and officers from Parramatta Police Area Command are conducting inquiries.”

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the Parramatta Police Station.

Images from the match show Sydney United 58 supporters throwing their arms up in apparent Nazi salutes, while some of their fellow fans reportedly sang a chant associated with a Croatian far-right movement.

A peak Jewish organisation condemned the incident as well.

“The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies condemns the reprehensible behaviour of football fans who chanted songs with fascist links and performed Nazi salutes during the Australia Cup final last night,” the organisation said in a statement on Sunday.

“These vile salutes have no place in modern Australian society and we call on Football Australia to take immediate action against the perpetrators.”

Football Australia vowed to investigate.

“Football Australia is today assessing all footage and images available of certain individuals which are of concern to our organisation and the broader Australian football community, including the displaying of the ‘Hitler salute’,” the association said.

“Football Australia is working closely with the management of CommBank Stadium and NSW Police to determine strong and swift action on any identified anti-social behaviour, which may also be deemed as illegal in the state of NSW.”

Macarthur FC claimed the trophy after a 2-0 win against Sydney United.
