Nikola Mileusnic scores one of the fastest goals in A-League history in Brisbane Roar’s defeat of Macarthur FC

Brisbane Roar set the pace early and Macarthur FC failed to recover at Moreton Daily Stadium.

Brisbane Roar have scored one of the fastest goals in A-League history on their way to a 3-1 win over Macarthur FC at Moreton Daily Stadium.

The Roar went ahead just 63 seconds into Sunday night’s contest, with the hosts catching the Macarthur defence fast asleep.

Nikola Mileusnic was the scorer after a brilliant build-up involving Argentine striker Juan Lescano and Irish playmaker Jay O’Shea.

O’Shea’s killer first-time pass was weighted perfectly for the lightning Mileusnic, who outpaced the Macarthur defence before calmly rounding goalkeeper Filip Kurto and slotting the ball home to score his fifth goal of the season.

Corey Brown and Henry Hore also scored for the Roar, who celebrated veteran right-back Jack Hingert’s 200th A-League game for Brisbane with a much-needed win.

Macarthur’s loss continued a poor run for the Ante Milicic-coached team, which has now gone five matches without a win.

It was one-way traffic in the first half but the visitors somehow managed to avoid conceding a second goal before half-time, with the Roar squandering a host of chances.

Among the culprits were Lescano and German midfielder Matti Steinmann, while Mileusnic also had another opportunity that was well saved by Kurto.

The Roar finally had the ball again in the back of the net four minutes into the second half but Hore’s effort was disallowed for offside.

However, the Roar claimed their well deserved second goal on the hour mark through a brilliant strike from left-back Brown.

Despite Brisbane’s dominance, Macarthur briefly dragged themselves back into the contest with a 74th-minute header from Jamaica international Adrian Mariappa.

However the comeback was short-lived, with Hore sealing the Roar’s third win of the season with a scrambling finish after Macarthur substitute Danny De Silva lost the ball on the edge of his six-yard box.
