Midfielders Andreas Kuen and Jimmy Jeggo join Melbourne City casualty ward
Melbourne City has been hit with more injuries heading into Tuesday’s battle with Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.
Melbourne City’s injury woes continue, with midfielders Andreas Kuen and Jimmy Jeggo the latest casualties ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.
Already without star attacking trio Mathew Leckie, Marco Tilio and Andrew Nabbout, as well as emerging striker Max Caputo, City has now lost Jeggo indefinitely with an Achilles tendon problem and Kuen at least for one match with a foot injury.
“We’ve had wretched luck with injuries,” City coach Aurelio Vidmar said.
However, Vidmar was remaining positive, saying Leckie, Tilio and Caputo were all making progress with their leg injuries.
“Leckie and `Tills’ are tracking well,” he said.
“Hopefully we’re having `Lecks’ back in a couple of weeks, so that’s a positive.
“Tilio had a rescan of his (hamstring) injury and that’s come up really well, so we’re able to progress to the next stage, (but) he’s still some weeks away anyway.
“Max Caputo is also making big headway – that’s also two to three weeks.”

Despite the club’s injuries, City is unbeaten in its past three matches and can jump into third place on the ladder with a win on Tuesday night.
Vidmar’s men have the chance to pounce on a vulnerable Mariners side that has conceded eight goals in its past two home matches
After Saturday’s 4-1 home loss to Auckland FC, Mariners coach Mark Jackson questioned the preparation of some of his players, which had resulted in “an internal disciplinary matter”.
Since then, Jackson said he had addressed the problem and made sure it was “done and dusted”.
“It’s about now focusing on Melbourne City,” Jackson said.
“Everybody is clear where my expectations are and what needs to be done leading into football matches.”
