Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned Melbourne Victory that the Red Devils have plenty of improvement in them despite thrashing Liverpool 4-0 in Thailand.

United’s squad arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday for a three-match pre-season tour of Australia that starts with Friday night’s clash against the Victory at the MCG.

Confidence is high in United’s camp following the four-goal demolition of Liverpool in Bangkok on Tuesday night.

In Dutchman ten Hag’s first match in charge, Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri found the back of the net.

“We started the first game well so I am happy,” ten Hag told MUTV.

“(But) believe me I have seen a lot of mistakes but I will not say (what they were).

“Liverpool played with three teams and they were not at their strongest, so we are not overestimating (our players).

“We saw some really good things. What you see is we have a lot of creativity and speed in the front and we have potential.

“(But) it was not only the result. I know we have good players but we have to play as a team.”

Former United star Nani trained with his new Victory teammates for the first time on Wednesday after the A-League club on Tuesday announced the acquisition of the Portuguese international on a two-year deal.

Victory coach Tony Popovic is yet to decide if his new star signing will play any part in the match against United.

Defender Matthew Spiranovic and striker Nick D’Agostino, who recently had shoulder surgery, won’t play on Friday night.

United also play at the MCG on Tuesday night against Crystal Palace before heading to Perth for a meeting with Aston Villa on Saturday week at Optus Stadium.

Manchester United touring squad: Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Tom Heaton, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar; Defenders: Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot, Ethan Laird, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissak.
