SUPER-SUB Shane Smeltz came off the bench to score a last-minute winner for Sydney FC in a pulsating Sydney Derby against Western Sydney at Parramatta.

Having taken the lead early in the first half through Jacques Faty, the visitors were pegged back when Dario Vidosic levelled things for the Wanderers.

But Smeltz’s impact off the bench made the difference, lashing home a goal in the 90th minute to secure a third straight Sydney Derby victory for the Sky Blues.

Earlier, Adelaide United retained its spot in the A-League’s top six with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Central Coast.

Both sides missed penalties in a dramatic first half, before Craig Goodwin gave United a deserved lead on the hour mark.

Fabio Ferreira equalised for the Mariners, before late goals from Pablo Sanchez and Mate Dugandzic sealed victory for the hosts.

In the day’s final match, Melbourne City missed the chance to move within a point of top spot when it drew 2-2 with 10-man Perth Glory at NIB Stadium.

City twice went ahead through Erik Paartelu and Aaron Mooy, only to be pegged back both times thanks to goals from Diego Castro and Chris Harold.

The visitors then had 27 minutes to find a winner with an extra man advantage after Jacob Collard was sent off, but were ultimately forced to settle for a point.
