Liam Reddy transfer: Western Sydney Wanderers sign goalkeeper from Central Coast Mariners

WESTERN Sydney has bolstered its goalkeeping stocks with the signing of ex-Central Coast stopper Liam Reddy.

WESTERN Sydney has bolstered its goalkeeping stocks with the signing of ex-Central Coast stopper Liam Reddy.

The 34-year-old left the Mariners by mutual consent on Thursday, having been stood down by the club in October due to “disciplinary reasons”.

He will now join the Wanderers, his sixth A-League club in 11 years, until the end of the current season.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working and learning under Tony Popovic and Spider (Zeljko Kalac) who will no doubt improve me as a player and a professional both on and off the park,” Reddy said in a statement.

“I have worked with Spider before and I am very excited to work under him again.

“Returning to Western Sydney is like coming home, a lot of my family and friends live in Western Sydney, I started my career at Pirtek Stadium so the opportunity to come full circle is fantastic — it feels like I’ve come home again.

“I’m looking forward to getting down to work and do my best to help the club win more silverware.”

Reddy will battle with current first-choice keeper Andrew Redmayne and back-up Dean Bouzanis for a place between the sticks at the Wanderers.
