The Matildas have been further hit by injuries, with Kyah Simon, Emily van Egmond, Tameka Yallop and Clare Wheeler to miss matches against South Africa and Denmark.

The quartet joined the already sidelined Alanna Kennedy (shoulder fracture) on a casualty list that also includes Ellie Carpenter, who continues to recover from the torn anterior cruciate ligament she suffered in May this year.

Simon’s yet-to-be specified injury is causing the most concern after she was stretchered off following a collision while playing for Tottenham against Reading in the FA Women’s League Cup competition.

The match, won 2-1 by Tottenham, was delayed for several minutes after the incident in the closing stages of the contest.

Attacker Remy Siemsen and defenders Emma Checker and Matilda McNamara have been added to Australia’s squad as the Matildas prepare for Saturday night’s clash against South Africa in London and Wednesday week’s battle with Denmark in Viborg.

Denmark-based McNamara is the only uncapped player in the squad.
