Former Socceroos defender Josh Risdon is set to return to Perth Glory after parting ways with Western United.

Risdon, 31, was a foundation player with expansion club United, and captained the Victorian outfit to an A-League championship in 2022.

However, after five seasons with the club, he has said goodbye, with sources suggesting the West Australian product is rejoining the Glory.

Between 2010 and 2017, Risdon made 153 appearances in all competitions for Perth before leaving to join Western Sydney Wanderers, where he spent two seasons before his move to United in 2019.

“To be able to say I had a part in helping build what’s going on here makes me very proud, and is one I’ll be able to tell the grandkids,” said Risdon, who appeared in 96 matches for United in all competitions.

“I wish nothing but the best for this club in the future and I’ll be watching on from afar.”

United’s general manager of football Mal Impiombato said Risdon “played a significant role” the club’s journey.

“His commitment on the pitch has been matched by his personality off it, and I am sure he has had a positive impact on every single person that he has interacted with at our club,” Impiombato said.
