Jaushua Sotirio joins Sydney FC as Patrick Wood departs for Perth Glory
Sydney FC has lost an attacker on loan to Perth, but has welcomed the arrival of another forward.
New Sydney FC attacker Jaushua Sotirio wants to make an immediate impact when the Sky Blues host A-League cellar dwellers Brisbane Roar on Saturday.
Former Wanderers, Phoenix and Jets forward Sotirio has signed with the Sydneysiders until the end of the season, filling the void left in the squad by the departure of Patrick Wood, who has joined Perth Glory on loan.
“I’ve got a big smile on my face at the thought of making my debut, and the dream would be to come on in the final 10-15 minutes and score a goal and celebrate that with the home fans,” 29-year-old Sotirio said in describing what would be an ideal Sky Blues debut at Allianz Stadium.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me. Sydney FC is the biggest club in the country.”

Sotirio was available as a free agent after the termination of his contract with Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters.
“I hope to contribute with goals and assists, and it’s a great chance for me to win silverware,” he said.
The Roar, who are yet to win the season and have picked up just two points from a possible 36, hope to have returning attacking midfielder Henry Hore available for the match.
The availability of Hore, whose loan deal with South Korean club Gangwon has ended, will be dependent on the arrival of his international clearance.
Brisbane will be without teenage striker Thomas Waddingham, who has been sold to English Championship club Portsmouth.
