COACHING and indigenous player development roles will be discussed on Wednesday when Jade North’s agent Buddy Farah meets with Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi about a new contract for the former Socceroos defender.

As reported by The Courier-Mail in November, Aloisi is hopeful North, who turns 34 on Thursday, will sign new deal with the club.

Negotiations will step up on Wednesday when Aloisi and football operations manager Craig Moore talk terms with Farah.

North has plenty of bargaining power, being the cornerstone of the Roar’s defensive unit alongside fellow centre-back Daniel Bowles.

Ahead of the Roar’s away clash with Wellington Phoenix on Sunday, North and Bowles have played every minute of every game for top-of-the-table Brisbane this season.

Farah said North hoped to play for Brisbane for at least another two seasons, and wanted to remain with the club beyond his playing days in a coaching and player development capacity.

“He’s only gotten better this season as a player and his passion is developing indigenous players,” Farah said.

North is among a host of Roar players whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

The A-League transfer window opened on Tuesday, with Farah also set to gauge the Roar’s interest in signing current Adelaide United winger Bruce Kamau.

Meanwhile, Phoenix defender Manny Muscat will miss Wellington’s clash with the Roar this weekend after being suspended for two matches by the A-League’s match review panel.

The MRP found Muscat guilty of an “assault on a player” offence on Central Coast Mariners striker Roy O’Donovan last Thursday night.

Muscat’s arm connected with the face of O’Donovan, with the Mariners’ Irish striker also in trouble for retaliating with a headbutt to Muscat’s face.

O’Donovan was cited by Football Federation Australia and will appear before a disciplinary committee on Wednesday.
