Former Spezia star Leo Sena signs two-year deal with Sydney FC
Sydney FC’s A-League title hopes have been boosted by the signing of a Brazilian midfielder with Italian top-flight experience.
Brazilian midfielder Leo Sena is targeting “many titles” after signing a two-year deal with Sydney FC.
The 28-year-old South American – whose career has included a stint in Italy’s Serie A with Spezia – has joined the Sky Blues from Agua Santa.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to play for a great club in a highly competitive league,” Sena said.
“I’ve had an excellent few days since my arrival here and I have a very good feeling about this season.
“I’m feeling very loved and I’m confident that I will be very happy here
“We have some exciting young stars as well as some smart, more experienced players, and I think it’s a great mix to challenge for silverware.
“I hope to stay here for many years, win many titles, and leave my mark on the club’s history.”

Sky Blues coach Ufuk Talay said Sena’s experience would assist in the development of Sydney’s younger players.
“Leo is a quality individual and I’m delighted we have signed him,” Talay said.
“He has a fantastic engine for a midfielder, he keeps the ball incredibly well, makes quick, early decisions and has an excellent range of passing.
“He’s a good tackler too, so I’m looking forward to watching him integrate into the squad.”
Sena was scheduled to play for his new club on Friday in a trial against Macarthur FC.
The Sky Blues open their 2024-25 A-League campaign on October 19 against Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium.
Talay’s men will also embark on the AFC Champions League Two journey next month.
