Socceroos hopeful Paul Izzo has made a successful start to his stint with Randers after getting the selection nod for the club’s opening Danish Superliga game of the season.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Randers less than two weeks ago on a three-year deal after starring for Melbourne Victory in the A-League last season, made a superb first-half save to deny Musa Juwara in his side’s 3-2 weekend away win over Vejle Boldklub.

And the uncapped Izzo, who was part of Australia’s squad for June’s World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh and Palestine, wasn’t the only former A-League player to make an impression for Randers.

Ex-Adelaide United attacker Mo Toure, who joined the club late last week from French outfit Reims following a loan spell last season with Paris FC, set up Randers’ stoppage-time winner for fellow substitute Tammer Bany Odeh after coming on as a replacement in the 65th minute.

Toure, 20, has one Socceroos cap after being a late substitute in Australia’s 1-0 loss to England at Wembley in October last year.

Randers captain Wessel Dammers said: “The new boys look sharp and they have made an impression, so I have a good feeling about the team at the moment.”

Randers continue their Superliga campaign in Sunday night (AEST) when they host Viborg FF at Cepheus Park.
