Chelsea v Barcelona video: Eden Hazard scores solo stunner in 2-2 draw in America
JOSE Mourinho has said Eden Hazard is up there with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and he proved it, scoring a spectacular first half solo effort against Barcelona.
CHELSEA goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a crucial shootout save and Eden Hazard scored a first half solo effort to help the reigning Premier League champions beat European kings Barcelona 4-2 on penalties in an International Champions Cup friendly.
Hazard spectacularly opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Luis Suarez and Sandro Ramirez netted second-half goals to put Barcelona ahead.
But Barca couldn’t see out the win, with defender Gary Cahill putting his body on the line to pull the Blues level with a header in the 85th minute.

In the resulting shootout, Barcelona went behind when Alen Halilovic slammed a failed Panenka attempt off the crossbar.
With the next Spanish attempt, Courtois denied Gerard Pique and Chelsea’s Ramires and Loic Remy then scored to secure the triumph.
Both squads are preparing to defend their crowns and sought to evaluate talent and test combinations against elite competition to conclude their US tours.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wanted a top-notch performance before the Blues fly back to London and neither side disappointed before 78,914 at the home of the NFL Washington Redskins.
Hazard made a sizzling start for Chelsea, racing past three defenders and into the left corner of the box before tucking a shot just inside the near post past.
The Blues missed more chances as Oscar sent a free kick off the woodwork and Diego Costa missed a great chance in the 32nd minute, sending a shot wide of the far post with only desperate goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegan to deny him.
Courtois was tested in the first half, twice denying Suarez but in the 52nd minute, the Uruguayan found the equaliser, luring out the big Belgium goalkeeper before chipping the ball just across the goal line.
Sandro’s goal followed in the 66th to put Barcelona ahead, curling a left-footed shot into the far side of the net past Courtois for a 2-1 edge but Chelsea answered five minutes before full time when Willian’s free kick was headed high into the air and substitute Barcelona goalkeeper Jordi Masip came off his line to try and make the grab.
Instead, Cahill nodded the ball into the vacant net even after taking a punch to the head that caused him to be removed from the match.
Barcelona were without five players, including Lionel Messi and Neymar but had earlier beaten Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 and lost 3-1 to Manchester United.
Chelsea’s previous International Champions Cup results included a shock 4-2 loss to New York Red Bulls but they bounced back to beat Paris Saint-Germain 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
