Bailey Wright set to join Socceroos as Preston North End bombs out of playoffs
DEFENDER Bailey Wright can turn his full attention to the Socceroos after his English team Preston bombed out in the playoffs.
DEFENDER Bailey Wright can turn his full attention to attempting to claim a spot in the Socceroos’ final World Cup squad after his English club side Preston North End’s loss in the League One playoffs.
Preston went down 3-1 in the second leg against Rotherham on Thursday night to bow out 4-2 on aggregate.
Rotherham will take on Leyton Orient in the playoff final on May 25, with the winner being promoted to the Championship next year. Wright, who is one of only two uncapped players in Ange Postecoglou’s expanded 30-man Australian squad, would have been unavailable for the playoff final, had Preston advanced.
The Socceroos’ squad is in camp in Terrigal on the NSW central coast.
