Tottenham announced Tuesday they had appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager on a four-year deal, ending their long wait for a new coach.

The 57-year-old Australian, who won the domestic treble with Celtic this season, will replace Antonio Conte at the Premier League club.

Conte left the club by “mutual agreement” in late March, with Cristian Stellini and then Ryan Mason taking temporary charge.

Postecoglou will officially join Spurs, who finished eighth in the Premier League, on July 1.

“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said.

“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy — everything that is important to our club.

“We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Postecoglou has been linked to the Hotspur job for weeks and was also reported to have been one of the front-runners to take over at Chelsea.

Postecoglou managed Australia at the World Cup in 2014 and has enjoyed immense success in the A-League, Greece and Japan but has not managed in any of Europe’s big leagues.

He also famously quit the Socceroos just months out from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

As big as the national team job was, Spurs will be the biggest gig of his life.

It will put him in charge of global superstars, including England captain Harry Kane, South Korean magician Son Heung-min and Brazilian Richarlison.

But despite the massive news, the 57-year-old has to win over the Spurs’ faithful.

Fans of the club launched a “#NoToPostecoglou” protest on Twitter.

Former Spurs and Celtic defender Ramon Vega didn’t use the hashtag, but said last week Postecoglou should have turned down the deal.

“If Ange Postecoglou wins the treble for Celtic, the next challenge shouldn’t be managing Spurs but fighting for playing in the Champions League,” he said.

“Or [he should be] going to a reputable big European club, which Spurs unfortunately is for sure not one of them at the moment.”
