Brisbane Roar were left frustrated as Newcastle Jets snatched a point in the early game on Saturday.
The woodwork was busy in the opening minutes of the match, with David Carney, Dimitri Petratos and Braedyn Crowley all hitting the post — the latter from just two metres out.
But in the second half, Jamie Maclaren gave Roar the lead with a well taken left foot shot.
Just as it looked like Brisbane would be staying top of the table, Newcastle equalised through Ben Kantarovski and the end-to-end encounter finished 1-1.

Victory were able to score twice — firstly through a Besart Berisha penalty and then Oliver Bozanic’s free kick — before their active supporters, the North Terrace, staged a walk out on the 30 minute mark.
But while the spotlight shone on the fans’ issues, more pressure mounted on Adelaide boss Guillermo Amor.
With his winless side needing to chase the game, Amor chose to introduce marquee man Marcelo Carrusca off the bench. The Argentine was able to pull a late penalty back, but it proved too little, too late.
