PETR Cech praised Sydney’s performance, but the Chelsea star says if you don’t take your chances, you don’t deserve to win.

Loic Remy scored a first-half winner against the Sky Blues at ANZ Stadium, but Chelsea were lucky not to concede a late equaliser.

Sydney FC created a flurry of chances in the last 15 minutes of the game and had a goal disallowed for hand ball when Seb Ryall bundled the ball into the net. But there were earlier opportunities too that went begging.

“They didn’t take their chances — when you play any game you need to take your chances to win the game,” Cech said.

“They had one goal disallowed, but if you don’t score you can’t win a football game and unfortunately for them you they didn’t score.”

Loic Remy scored the only goal of the game at ANZ Stadium.

Cech’s opposite number Vedran Janjetovic pulled of some good saves to keep the Sky Blues in with a chance and his performance didn’t go unnoticed by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

And Cech too was impressed.

“He did very well. He had some chances at the start and he made some good saves, especially at the start of the second half,” Cech said.

“I think it was a pity that we didn’t score the second goal because the second goal would have made it easier for us. But we didn’t score and obviously in the last 15 minutes they had some chances.”

It may have been Cech’s last ever game for Chelsea with speculation growing that he is about to join English Premier League rivals Arsenal. But the Czech refused to discuss his future, saying he still has games for his national team coming up that he needs to focus on before any decisions are made.

“When the decision is out I will tell. Now it’s just speculation, I’m not thinking about it. I just finished this game, I’m joining the national team, then I will think about it.”
