Melbourne Victory can top the A-League again, says Gui Finkler

ATTACKER Gui Finkler cited half-time of the Central Coast Mariners draw a fortnight ago as the turning point and said Melbourne Victory can now go on and finish top.
Victory has scored eight goals in 225 minutes since, securing seven of a possible nine points to lift to fourth and within three points of leaders Western Sydney.
Finkler said it wasn’t pretty but the win over Sydney FC, via a Matt Jurman own goal, was huge.
“We started playing very well in the second half against Central Coast and from there on we’ve built our confidence and Brisbane we were good and against Sydney we deserved three points that we got in the end,’’ Finkler said.
“The last three games we got seven points, we’re still two points behind but I think we can push through to get on top.
“We’ve been doing pretty well even when we weren’t winning the games. Because we won everyone’s saying the attitude has changed, but for me personally we wanted to win those games as well, but the results were coming and so we are happy and proud of the boys.
“We prepared ourselves for a tough match (against Sydney), we knew they were going to come here and make it as hard as possible for us, but we knew if you keep pushing we were going to get the reward.’’
Victory travels to resurgent Perth Glory on Saturday and Finkler said the players must adapt to the short turnaround.
“Shorter time for us, we have to recover ourselves for Saturday and make sure we prepare as much as we can for this tough, it’ll be a tough match again but we going to go there to win and hopefully we can do it,’’ he said.
